ASOS Magazine: November issue: Jessica Szohr

JESSICA SZHOR, the bohemian, downtown actress from hit television show, Gossip Girl, is the cover subject of ASOS Magazine’s November issue and I wanted to offer the images and story to you, if interested.

Jessica dishes the dirt on her personal style, as well as TV persona Vanessa Abrams’ in the attached story.  As the only female lead on the show, who has never been crowned “Queen Bee,” Jessica finally gets the chance to showcase the alter ego’s signature super chic style.  Photographedexclusively for ASOS Magaszine by John Lindquist, the actress models pieces by British designer Paul Smith, as well as Rebecca Minkoff, contemporary brand Gomez Gracia, and ASOS’s own label.  The eight page ASOS spread was shot by London-based photographer John Lindquist in the only plausible location, New York City.

“At heart, I’m still a simple jeans and T-shirt kind of girl,” Szohr admits, whose personal style mixes designer items with pieces picked up at vintage shops and small boutiques.  When questioned about her favourite wardrobe on set Jessica confesses, “From the show, I’d choose Jenny Humphrey’s style.  Its grungy, rock n’ roll, looks thrown together, doesn’t look super glam.”  However, despite this fashionista’s style, or Vanessa’s fashionable, urban look, Jessica spills that after the cameras stop rolling, she is happiest at home in her sweatpants.

Alexandra Richards for StyleCaster

Web’s first ever cover story, unveiled today on StyleCaster.com.
A wispy blond takes a break from the world – and a wrong turn into an abandoned building in the City Hall area of downtown Manhattan – but she’s tough enough to face it alone. Armed with tough accessories and bad-girl eyeliner, Alexandra Richards is a goth warrior strutting her stuff against a decaying background.
.
Shot by Nicholas Routzen in an abandoned building in downtown Manhattan, Alexandra Richards wears Louis Vuitton, Azzedine Alaïa, Missoni and Alexander McQueen in a stunning 8 page narrative on power, femininity and the duality of urban decay as both beautiful and destructive

UMIT BENAN DEBUTS ON THECORNER.COM

Wednesday, October 20, 2010

Umit Benan, the up and coming menswear designer, debuts with his own “mini-store” on thecorner.com.
The new mini-store showcases the Autumn/Winter 2010/11 collection, Retired Rockers, inspired by ‘a group of musicians who made music history in the 1970s and 80s, once young and wild kids with no direction beyond rousing an entire generation to a blaring rock beat’. In an exclusive interview for thecorner.com from his Milan studio, the cosmopolitan designer tells about his origins and creative inspirations. The A/W 2010/11 collection presents a style which is ‘relaxed, free and easy and definitely classy.’ The reference is to a legendary band, The Rolling Stones. According to Umit Benan, their charismatic and nonconformist spirit goes beyond what they wear, representing the pure spirit of rock.
The path of the designer has been marked by various collaborations including Marc Jacobs (for the women's section), Motu Tane for Francois Nars, Sophie Theallet and Rifat Ozbek for Pollini. In 2009 Umit Benan has presented his brand and with the second collection, Cuba SS10, the designer won the first menswear edition of ‘WHO IS ON NEXT’, organized by L’Uomo Vogue and Pitti Immagine. The designer was also one of two protagonists featured in the men’s fashion project compiled by Pitti Uomo 77 in January 2010. As web media partner of Pitti Immagine, thecorner.com followed the event of the designer, who presented the A/W 2010/11 collection in an old restaurant in the Santa Maria Novella station in Florence.
The A/W 2010/11 collection, Retired Rockers, is now available on thecorner.com in more than 50 countries.
