Staji Fashion: Heaven on Earth 2011 By Tanja Stadler

STAJI is presenting its new all-white collection HEAVEN ON EARTH.
Conceiving this collection, STAJI mastermind Tanja Stadler had lots of inspiration
going on as she is convinced that the world is about to undergo a lot of changes soon, changes that will not only affect the economy but our way of living and enjoying.

Tanja's way of looking at things encompasses a thorough study of different cultures and ancient knowledge. She's convinced that humankind is about to develop in way that will be very positive and exciting. "Everything's connected" isn't just a recent scientific discovery to her - it's something she has experienced and believes in.

Consequently, STAJI's collections are about individuality, about truly expressing yourself, and honestly being yourself. You also can't pigeonhole STAJI designs into categories like casual, smart or evening: Tanja's pieces can be individually combined to fit any purpose you may have in mind.

The key pieces of the HEAVEN ON EARTH collection are slinky dresses with asymmetrical shapes easy to combine or arrange. Tanja has always enjoyed the fact that her collections allow for amazing layer looks offering lots of options to create your own individual look all by yourself.

New Designer: Handbags: Shrug by Essence

Essence, a New York graduate, began making handbags in early 2008 after learning how to operate a sewing machine for the second time since she was eight years old. Creating and then seeing her vision appear in its full physical aspect was something Essence had always been interested in. Initially, making handbags was something that started as a simple hobby but after several months of experimenting with different designs and styles, the results of her work was all the inspiration it took to turn this hobby into a potential career. Soon, Essence decided that she did not want to make bags just to make bags. She wanted there to be meaning behind the products she was making. There were designs that fit for different people who have different styles of dressing, creating line that catered to every female-from the conservative lady to the party girl. This objective led to the establishment of Shrug by Essence.

365 Layers of “Natural Look” Makeup

Natural Beauty, a surreal short film by Dutch artistic duo LernertSander. The pair embrace the urge for cosmetic overkill by applying 365 layers of makeup over the course of one day to Belgian supermodel Hannelore Knuts.

Prep work: We tested a 100-layer session a few days before on our intern, who is a man. We wanted to make sure that this amount of makeup wouldn't kill a person. It didn't kill our intern so we trusted everything would be fine on Hannelore.

Jesper + Mathias: Peace & Lovers

The photography duo Jesper Hammarbäck and Mathias Persson met at Linjepunkt Repro AB in Falun, Sweden, where they work retouching images. The combination of Jesper’s image interest in general and newfound love of photography with Mathias’s devotion to photography that stems back to the era of negative and transparency, has created the idea for their own photography.

By letting themselves be inspired by many famous and world renowned photographers like Richard Avedon, Irving Penn and Bruce Weber, they did extensive test photography to investigate techniques and range. When it comes to portraits, Jesper and Mathias admire Avedon’s direct contact with his subjects.

Mathias grew up in Säter and his first festival experience goes back to DalaRock which happened during the 1980’s in nearby Hedemora. Jesper grew up in the Peace & Lovers’ city Borlänge and has been to all the festivals since the beginning and performed in 2004 with the band One Motion.

The bases of Peace & Lovers is Avedon’s book In the American West where the characters reflect the American west in the early 1980’s. In that study as well as in this it is obvious that the photographers are dependent on their subjects to be able to create a complete image.

In Peace & Lovers it is the audience in focus and we understand that they, as participants, create the festival. Call it a homage, or even a borrowed technique, but the result in Peace & Lovers is striking and an unique document of our time. Peace & Lovers is series of personalities who visited and participated in the Peace & Love festival in 2010 in Borlänge, Sweden
